First Monaco DanceSport Festival
The first DanceSport event held in Monaco on December, Saturday 18, 1999, was a full success. It was the aim of the Monaco DanceSport Association, to present DanceSport to the public in Monaco. The competition was conducted by Peter Maxwell, DanceSport Advisor of the Association. 8 couples in each discipline were invited to dance and the Hall was nearly full with about 2000 spectators.

Prince Alexandre de Merode, President of the Monaco DanceSport Association, and Prince Albert de Monaco with other family members of the principality attended the competition.

On Saturday evening, a spectacular Gala Evening of DanceSport was organised in the famous "Salle Empire" of the Hotel de Paris. All kinds of DanceSport was shown and it was filmed by the BBC TV-Company. Several important people received a World DanceSport Award, included myself.

Over all, I must congratulate the Organisers. I look foreward to the next big event in Monaco. The full report will follow
