IDSF Press Release 21/00

IDSF President sends anti-doping signal

The IDSF, as an IOC-recognised International Sport Federation, has a duty to apply the Olympic Movement Anti-Doping Code, including a programme of unannounced out-of-competition testing and the application of sanctions.

Although the testing carried out at international competitions so far has never produced a positive test, and doping has never been an issue in this sport, the IDSF will continue to cooperate with the IOC in this area, and will intensify its efforts to remain in compliance with the Code.
The IOC's determination to make further progress in this area is unmistakable, and the evidence of this was seen in Sydney this year.

National Member Federations are advised to review their anti-doping procedures, and work closely with their National Olympic Committees and Sports Federations to obtain advice and assistance. Further advice from IDSF will be provided through formal channels in due course.

Rudolf P. Baumann
IDSF President
